starsword is my submission for the games project module, an individual assignment showcasing what i have learned at university. i opted for a turn-based rpg out of my love for the genre, curiosity as to how they are developed and as a way to combine mechanics and ui together seamlessly as a lot of player interaction is done through ui.
showcase development of my skills at university as a general designer
apply primary research conducted at the start of module
create a group of systems that intertwine together for a better experience
even stronger understanding of unreal engine than i had before
aware of the benefits of making easily expandable assets in an every growing project
the highlight of this project has to be the combat system, specifically the battle actors, as they are easily the most complex part of the whole project. even though i struggled with them from time to time, i'm still really happy with how they turned out, especially for my first time both creating an actor with that scale of expandability and interacting with child classes.
