astro bot: elemental odyssey is a group submission for the journeyman project module, a cross-discipline assignment consisting of teams of around 18 people. we were given a brief to follow from, being the 2024 team asobi release, astro bot, and as a team created our own spin on it drawing from avatar: the last airbender for inspiration. despite my doubts about whether i was suitable or not, i put myself forward for a leadership role at the start of the module and found myself to perform much better in it than i expected.
communicate effectively and fairly with other students from a leadership perspective
adapt gameplay from the source material while offering something new
became more familiar with animation blueprints after importing outsourced assets
learned the importance of communication in a group environment
my highlight for this project is more personal rather than technical and it relates to the leadership role i took on. i am very proud of myself for taking that step to appoint myself as a lead designer candidate despite my worries, and i'm even prouder for being a successful leader given my result in the peer-review section being a 9/10.
